The NIC Kerala State Unit has successfully designed, developed and implemented a computer-based Information System for Licensing and Motor Vehicles Registration of the Motor Vehicles Department, Government of Kerala.
The Information System was inaugurated by the Transport Minister of Kerala, Mr. R Balakrishna Pillai.
NIC Kerala State Unit is also in the process of extending its services by covering the computerization of two other major functions of the Motor Vehicles Department: Vehicle Tax Collection and Permit Management.
Presently, the software developed by NIC has only been implemented in four districts of Kerala, but rigorous efforts are on both by the NIC Kerala State Unit and Government of Kerala to expedite implementation in all the districts of Kerala.
The software developed by NIC Kerala State Unit is being considered for implementation in Manipur also.
