National Informatics Centre's achievements during the year 1991-1992 include:
- NICNET services to 60 government departments, 32 states / Union Territories and 450 district centres.
- provision of a separate NICNET node at NIHMANS to enlarge the scope of MEDLARS.
- growing popularity of GISTNIC inducing the decision to increase its cover by installing an additional 100 GISTNIC booths at different locations and strategic points.
- 160 training courses attended by 10,989 participants as a part of the Government Informatics Training (GIT) programme.
- introduction of electronic bulletin board facility in NICNET.
