"Information is power". New technologies usher in new ways of information processing and dissemination. An organisation like NIC with its vast repertoire of skilled human resources is always focussed on discovering these new ways and achieving milestones. One such landmark is the establishment of Community Information Centres (CICs), featured in the 'E-Governance Initiatives' section of this issue. The success of CICs, overcoming all challenges posed by the difficult terrain and geographic remoteness of the North-East, has proved beyond doubt, that e-governance is here to stay.
