Enormous potential exists in the City, for the use of Information Technology, especially for the export intensive produce including coir, cashew and cocoa.
The National Information Technology Promotion Unit (NITPU), Cochin under NIC, has been tirelessly providing its support to organizations such as Cashew Export Promotion Council and Coconut Development Board in facilitating their operations through an effective usage of ICT. Some of the important ICT Applications developed by NITPU Cochin for facilitating the development and export of cashew, cocoa and coconut include the following:
Cashew Export Promotion Council (Ministry of Commerce) Membership Information System This Software automates the Membership and Registration of Cashew Exporters in the Council, Renewal of Membership and Registration of Cashew exporters in the Council, Export / Import Details of various Cashew items by the exporters, Annual Trade contribution payable to the Council by the exporters.
Trade Information System This Software compiles Daily, Monthly / Annual Export / Import details of different Cashew items received from various sources and generates various Statistical Reports.
Cashew Price Information System This System maintains Cashew Price Information of various Cashew items in Indian markets, London and New York markets. The Council provides various outputs like the trends, comparison, Cashew requirement etc. to the Exporters and publish in the Cashew bulletin.
Country wise Information System This System maintains Country wise Information database. Information maintained includes General Information, Statistics, Tariffs / Duties, Export / Import information etc.
Payroll System Processing the Monthly Salary of employees, DA arrears, Bonus processing etc.
PF Management System Contributory Provident Fund Management System maintains the PF accounts of the employees.
Directorate of Cashewnut & Cocoa Development (Ministry of Agriculture) File Management System The purpose of this computerised File Management System is to monitor the various files that are generated and maintained in the Directorate, within a Financial year, subject wise and seat wise.
Payroll Processing System All the Earnings, Deductions and Recovery details of all employees are processed using this Payroll Processing System.
Schemes Monitoring System The Physical and Financial Targets and Achievements of various centrally sponsored and State Work Plan Schemes of DCCD are monitored using this Schemes Monitoring System.
Despatch, Diarying and Receipt Monitoring System All the Despatch details, Inward Diary details, Payment Receipt details are daily maintained and monitored using the Despatch, Diary and Receipt Monitoring System.
Coconut Development Board (CDB) (Ministry of Agriculture) Market Information System This System is for monitoring the Daily and Weekly Arrival and Price details of various Coconut products traded in different Indian and International markets.
Personnel Information System General Information regarding the employees like the Service Book details, Promotion details, Training details, Transfer details etc. are monitored using this Software.
Directory Information System The details regarding important Traders, Manufacturers, Importers and Exporters dealing with Coconut Products can be accessed using this Software.
Stores Monitoring System This Software is being used for monitoring all the Technical and Non Technical, non consumable items purchased and used by CDB.
Journal Subscription Monitoring System This Package is developed for monitoring the subscribers and subscription details of all the monthly and quarterly Journals printed and published by CDB.
Board Decisions Monitoring and Retrieval System Details regarding the Board Members, Committee Members, Board Meetings and their decisions and implementations of decisions are being monitored using this Software.
Some of the other information systems under development for the Coconut Board include Farms Activities Monitoring System, etc .
