e-Procurement in Orissa crossed another milestone by hosting 384 numbers of PMGSY Tenders 384 tenders worth Rs. 855 crores of Rural Development (RD) department for Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) works were successfully hosted by Rural Development dept at. officials in the presence of RD Minister, Secretary RD, Secretary IT and a host of senior officers of Govt. of Orissa. This was followed by a press briefing by RD Minister appreciating NIC's effort in delivering online processing of tenders. The entire process was demonstrated during the programme held at State Secretariat. Training of Engineers on e-Proc application system
About 1500 departmental officers of 4 major engineering departments (RD, Water Resources, Works and Housing & Urban Development) throughout the state of Orissa have been trained. The Digital Signature Certificate and Encryption Certificate have been obtained for more than 400 users of 4 departments. e-filing of Return by Dealers for Department of Commercial Taxes,Tamil Nadu More than 25,000 dealers in Tamil Nadu are filing their VAT monthly returns online using the www.tnvat.gov.in website designed and developed by NIC, Chennai.
VAT was introduced in Tamil Nadu on 1st January 2007. More than 5 Lakh Dealers are registered under VAT. The e-Filing of Returns was launched initially for top most 49 Dealers during September 2007. Later, this facility was extended to 20000 Dealers in a phased manner. The Top 20000 Dealers cover 95% of the total tax collected from the VAT Dealers. Dealers can file the Returns along with purchase and Sales Annexures. Facilities are available to upload the Annexures of all purchases and sales. Separate acknowledgement is generated for the Returns filed online.

Workshop-cum Training for District Passport Computerisation conducted at NIC Nagaland One-day Workshop on District Passport Cell Computerisation was organised by the Department of Home, Government of Nagaland and Regional Passport Office, Guwahati in collaboration with the NIC, GOI, MCIT at NIC Nagaland State Centre, Nagaland Civil Secretariat Complex, Kohima on 22nd August, 2008. The training started with welcome address and brief introduction of Passport Computerisation by Sh.Kezungulo Medikhru, State Informatics Officer (NIC). The technical session was taken up by the resource person Smt.Bhaswati Duara, Scientist-C (NIC) attached to Regional Passport Office, Guwahati. The portal which has been developed by NIC, SDU, Pune and the Directorate of Accounts and Treasuries, GOM allows pensioners to interact with treasuries. The pensioner data is forwarded to Head of Office and then to AG. The PPO is to be received in electronic format from AG and regular payment will be started on line.

SMS Seva at RTO, Kanpur, Lucknow and NOIDA National Informatics Centre UP State Unit, Lucknow has developed mobile based SMS software for customising for UP Transport Department. The software provides a mobile based service directly to citizens/ transporters and transport department officials to get the status of Road Tax and Additional Tax. Just by sending vehicle registration number through SMS at Mobile Numbers 09794988000 for RTO, Kanpur, 09910514897 for ARTO, NOIDA and Sh Ashok Kumar, Deputy Transport Commissioner & Sh Jai Sankar Tiwari, ARTO, Noida inaugurating SMS based services in their respective offices 09450365853 for RTO, Lucknow the sender can get the status of Road Tax and Additional Tax paid by him. The software uses the same database prepared through VAHAN software. The first of this kind of service has been started for the vehicles registered at RTO, Kanpur. This service will be of great help in trapping the Tax Defaulters. The SMS based service was inaugurated by Sh. Ashok Kumar, Deputy Transport Commissioner on 16th July, 2008. Two days workshop on plan plus at Aizawl, Mizoram A two days State Level Workshop on Plan Plus (BRGF) was held on 20-21 August, 2008 at Aizawl, Mizoram with objectives like spreading awareness on the BRGF Programme, impart utilisation skills and knowledge on the Plan Plus Software as well as gather assessments and suggestions for necessary adjustment. A total of 33 participants attended the workshop.
