Dear Editor, I would like to compliment Informatics for including Uttaranchal as the State in Focus in its October issue. In a mountain state like Uttaranchal, the NIC transmission system, especially Videoconferencing network has proved to be a major technical intervention for good Governance. Many departments are using ICT to improve their work performance and Uttaranchal today can claim to be one of the pioneer states in the use of ICT. I extend my heartfelt thanks to NIC and its staff. Dear Editor, State Unit Centre of NIC Uttaranchal provides me with Informatics bulletin regularly. I find it quite informative. The October 2004 issue gives details of programmes, where Uttaranchal is using Information Technology. Dear Editor, I am a regular reader of Informatics. Being an NICian, I strongly feel that there should be a new column of ‘Tips & Tricks’ or ‘Your Problem-Our Solution’.
