A one day Regional Workshop with Northern States on NIC and NICNET Services was held in Lucknow on 3rd March 2004. The workshop was chaired by Sh K.K. Jaswal, Secretary, DIT. Dr. Chandrashekhar, JS e-Gov DIT, Dr. N. Vijayaditya, DG NIC, Dr B.K. Gairola, DDG, NIC, Dr. Y.K. Sharma, DDG NIC, Mr. M. Moni, DDG NIC, Sh VK Dharmadhikari, SD DIT, IT Secretaries of Punjab, Uttaranchal, Himachal Pradesh, Chandigarh (UT), Jammu & Kashmir alongwith the State Informatics Officers of the seven Northern States participated in the discussions. After a warm welcome of the delegates Dr. Chandrashekhar highlighted the National E-Governance Action Plan - recent developments and decisions of GOI. An overview of NIC’s services & future plans, its activities & achievements particularly in the seven northern states was presented by DG, NIC. The State’s vision, strategy and plans for implementation of e-governance projects in various sectors, their plans for meeting the network and data center requirements and expectations from NIC was elaborated by the secretaries of the different states. In his concluding remarks the Secretary, DIT appreciated the services being rendered by NIC.
