The official e-Government Services Portal (www.oman.om) has been launched under the umbrella of Oman's national IT strategy, which marks a major milestone in this era of digital societies. Aiding in the transformation of Oman into a sustainable Knowledge Society, the official portal uses digital technologies to improve the efficiency of internal processes and is designed to serve the public quickly, effectively, and in an interactive manner. The Portal is bilingual (English and Arabic) and the layout and navigation is easy to use. The content of the portal has been structured keeping citizen centricity in mind giving access to a variety of services. The govt. portal also authenticates entry to other government services and permits access to their integrated services. The portal has a comprehensive repository of government services with over 600 services provided by 23 government agencies. These services are categorized under Citizen and Residents; Business and Visitors sections of the website. Oman.om strongly supports empowerment of citizens and residents by enabling them to electronically interact with government organizations. Through the Portal the citizens can have an easy access to various services related to immigration, health and sanitation, education, culture and entertainment. The Portal embraces the Accessibility standards and complies with W3C standards, to accommodate visually challenged users.
