Employees' State Insurance Scheme of India is an integrated social security scheme tailored to provide social protection to employees and their families against the hazards of sickness, maternity, disablement and death. Through this scheme, the government displays its commitment to the welfare of workers and the creation of a safe and healthy work place environment in the Country. A significant landmark in this scheme is the introduction of e-governance initiatives, as seven ESI dispensaries is now imparting online services since November 2006.
