The Analytics and Modelling Division NIC presents three new products in the field of software development. ANALYST: Analyst is an on-line statistical analysis tools package. Available on the NEC System, with data interfaces to the General Information Systems Terminal of NIC (GISTNIC), International Monetary Fund (IMF) and ECO databases, the Analyst provides the User with requisite analytical power for timely analysis. Researchers, Economists and Planners will find Analyst a great help in indicational analysis. A new Xenix/Unix version of Analyst is also available now. This new version is user-friendly and menu-driven, and provides around 40 statistical techniques along with graphs such as bar, histogram, xylot etc. TRANSYS: A generalized decision support system for transport and distribution planning, it is based on multi-objective criteria, and has been developed using the "goal programming" approach. It is a user-friendly system which formulates the models on its own and generates various types of analysis reports. It runs on Xenix/Unix machines. It can be widely used in the area of product movement such as those of coal, foodgrain, steel and its products etc. KEEPING TABS ON THE ECONOMY: The Analytics and Modelling Division has recently developed a computerized system to forecast and monitor the monthly price indices of all commodities for various economic ministries of the Central Government. The Micro Time Series, using Univariate Box Jenkings Method, is utilized to obtain the forecasts. The rate of inflation with confidence region has been forecast for the year ending on March 1993. These forecasts will be monitored very closely as part of early warning signals by Planners.
