Jalandhar : A one-day Workshop on Remote Sensing and Geographic Information System (GIS) techniques for Integrated Rural Development was organized jointly by the National Informatics Centre, Punjab State Unit, Chandigarh and Punjab Remote Sensing Centre, Ludhiana on March 17, 1997 at Circuit House Jalandhar, for the Districts of Jalandhar, Gurdaspur and Kapurthala.
The main objective of the Workshop was to introduce the participants with the concept of Remote Sensing and GIS. Demonstration was given on how GIS can help in decentralized planning and decision making. Live demonstration of GISNIC Software (Windows Version) was also given.
Senior District Officers of various departments such as Agriculture; Animal Husbandry; Forest; Horticulture; Irrigation; Water Supply; Soil Conservation; Planning; Small Scale/Village Industry etc attended the Workshop.
