Lakshadweep: The NIC Lakshadweep Union Territory Centre has undertaken a computerization drive in the scenic islands of Lakshadweep. In the recent past the NIC Lakshadweep Union Territory Centre has undertaken a number of computerization jobs, developed and implemented computerized systems for a number of important activities. The Lakshadweep Union Territory Centre has computerized the Ticketing activities of four more ports in Lakshadweep. The ports are in the islands of Andrott, Kalpeni, Amini and Agatti. With this eight out of eleven ports controlled by Lakshadweep administration has computerized ship/ferry booking system. The Software developed not only enables the quick booking of tickets and preparation of passenger list but can also be used for monitoring the movement of passengers between ports. The Union Territory Centre has implemented the Computerized "Permits Holders System" in the office of the Sub-divisional Officers in all the islands. The Software is being used for the issue of entry permits to the islands (declared as a restricted area). The Software also enables the Revenue Administration to monitor the movement of each and every permit holder in the islands. A Software Package has been developed for the generation of all types of bills such as contingent bills, short & long term advances etc., that are required by any Government Office. The Software has been implemented in and around ten offices at Kavaratti. The Unit has extended its support to the Principal Pay and Accounts Office, Lakshadweep for clearing the accounts compilation work. A Software Package has been developed exclusively for the purpose. With the help of the Software pending accounts for eight months was cleared in just one month's time. Seeing the utility and efficiency of the Software it has been decided to implement it in other offices also.
