Tripura: The Tripura State Unit of the National Informatics Centre has recently organized a one-day Workshop on "Information Technology in Public Administration" at NIC State Unit, Agartala. The Workshop was attended by Senior Government Officials of both the State and Central Government Departments. The Minister-in-charge, Science and Technology, Shri Jiten Chowdhury in his address expressed satisfaction over the kind of infrastructure NIC has created in the State and the type of services it has been rendering to the State. He also expressed the need of putting these facilities to optimum utilization for the benefit of the people of the State. He also reiterated the commitments of the Government for any application of these modern tools vis-a-vis the IT, so that either the public at large is directly benefited or the administration is streamlined for better implementation and monitoring of Programmes of the Government. Dr N Vijayaditya, Deputy Director General, NIC, in his keynote address explained how the Internet has revolutionized the entire World including India. The Informatics and the Informatics culture are totally different today, than what they used to be a decade or so earlier. He also explained how NIC is continuously upgrading its technology and the network NICNET, so as to provide Internet services to NICNET Users. He once again reaffirmed NIC's commitment to meet all Informatics related needs of the State and Central Government Departments.
