The floppy containing the EXIM Policy; the Handbook of Procedures and Input-Output Norms, in the form of text files can be loaded on a computer system and queried using its search engine for the relevant item. During the Press Conference after the release, the Commerce Minister emphasised on the time bound modernization of all the 32 offices of DGFT by NIC during the year 1997. This would facilitate computer based on-line processing of all applications, filing of application through NICNET and introduction of Electronic Data Interchange in the DGFT offices.
