NIC-Punjab organized first State level workshop on computerization of Transport applications in collaboration with State Transport Department, Punjab during 12th - 13th September 2013. The workshop was inaugurated by Shri Jagpal Singh Sandhu, IAS, Principal Secretary, Govt. of Punjab, Department of Transport. During his inaugural address he emphasized on process re-engineering in the transport department so that better services can be rendered to the citizens of the state.

Shri Navneet Kukreja, DDG & SIO, Punjab welcomed Shri J S. Sandhu, IAS, Shri Harjeet Singh, IAS, DTOs and DIOs from all 22 districts of Punjab. He applauded the efforts made by Transport department in bringing the transparency by implementing ICT initiatives taken by NIC.

Shri Harjeet Singh, IAS, State Transport Commissioner, addressed the delegates and emphasized on introduction of e-governance in Transport department so as to have a good impact on the citizens. Dr. Mahesh Chandra DDG, NIC presented the keynote remotely through Video Conferencing. He apprised the delegates about the new initiatives taken by NIC by introducing many more new services through National Portals of VAHAN and SARATHI. He briefed about the need to have interfaces for sharing database with the agencies like IRDA, Policy, CBI, RBI, Vehicle manufacturers, etc. The National Team of SARATHI from NIC Hyderabad led by Shri BV Reddy TD, deliberated upon new features available in SARATHI. They also demonstrated the submission of LL/DL online through portal, slot booking for test, Screen Test Aid for Learner License (STALL) and Mobile based Enforcement module. The National Team of VAHAN led by Shri G Ghosh, DDG presented various modules available on VAHAN portal. They also appraised the delegates about the new initiatives like Homologation Database, Manufacture Database and Dealer database, integration with IRDA, and agencies like Police, CBI etc.
