NIC, Daman Unit has recently accomplished the Ration Card Data computerisation project for the Administration of Daman and Diu. The Hon’ble Administrator of the UT of Daman & Diu, Shri O. P. Kelkar formally announced the implementation of the software, in the presence of MPs, Finance Secretary, Collector and all other Govt. officers of the UT. The Project incorporates the complete software development and implementation, data entry and card printing supervision. Many different types of MIS reports can also be generated using the system. The same package is now being implemented at Diu district. Some of the salient features of RIMS include the following

Stores the Ration Card Records in database format for easy retrieval and processing. All the Ration Card related transactions are online. The activity of the Allocation of the commodities is automated, right from the calculation to the issue of allocation order. Searching is very easy and can be done using various criteria. The allocation based on the age of person is now dynamically calculated, thanks to RIMS. RIMS is implemented on the LAN of the collector office. Being a multi user system, other concerned officers can also view updated data on a click of a mouse. Different levels of password based security is also incorporated to protect the data from unauthorised access.
